National Association of Military Moms and Spouses

Hi everyone,

With David coming home (tonight)...yea, I can NOT wait, we wanted to look into the USAA Banking for him. Currently he does his banking with Chase bank. I have seen so many commercials and wondered if any of your children or family members go through USAA?? Also is it online as far as signing up?? I haven't seen any local branches in Wisconsin.

Any and all information is very appreciated!!

Thanks,

Jerilyn :)

Jerilyn, my daughter uses USAA for her checking account and loves it. They have free ATM  anywhere in the world. Their customer service is fantastic (very friendly and helpful). She is planning on using them for car insurance to when she gets a car in the future. They are dedicated to the military 100%.  I would look online for the phone number and then have your son call them that way any questions he has they can answer plus they are very friendly and helpful and may suggest things that would benefit him depending on where he is being stationed etc.. Good luck! And have a great visit with your son!!! My daughter comes home in two weeks from today!! Can't wait!
I want to find out about USAA also, we had Tyler open accounts at AAFCU on base since I had no info about how to open a USAA account. I have never seen a physical branch either, so I wonder if it is all online.

Ok, Great...Thank you Julie...that is wonderful to know!  I love the fact that they are dedicated to the military. :)

So,  do you know if it is all online? Or are there physical branches around also?

I am sooo anxious to get to the airport!!!!! Wooohoooo!!!  2 weeks for your Daughter, ahhhh, that will be so awesome too!!!!! It will go fast, soon you will be heading to the airport!!!! :)

Tiffany,  what is AAFCU??   I think it is wonderful that they offer Insurance too...it is like everything all wrapped up into 1 place..nice!!!!  :)

It's the Air Force Federal Credit Union. There is one on every base. They also have access through many other "sister" credit unions. There is a credit union 10 minutes from us that is a "sister" location,  I can go there and make a deposit or get a balance or whatever. Most national credit unions have that relationship for the military branches.

I agree, I plan on getting his insurance through USAA when the time comes, they are great for that!

Excellent!!!! That was another concern, for me to be able to help with David's banking if he is not able to; making deposits/transfers/balance inquiries... at Chase there is NO way to do that other then being a POA . Although While David was in basic he gave me his password, so I could go online and at least check out his balance so he knew what it was....

Yes Tyler has a Chase account too. We added myself onto his account right before he left so that I could access it for whatever came up without issues. Then when he graduated from BMT and was stationed on the other side of Lackland at Medina, he went to the AF credit union and opened up accounts there. Since I obviously cannot go in there in person to be added on the account, he asked about adding me onto his AF accounts and they gave him specific forms for me to fill out and return to them with a photo copy of my driver license to be added onto his accounts. Tyler mailed me the forms, I filled them out, kept a copy for my records, then sent it in. Sooooo.....the point is, if David opens up accounts there, you can be added on as well if he send you the forms. Very helpful for when he gets deployed, right? Bills still have to be paid and all that stuff. Hope that is helpful!! XOXOXO

Wonderful information! Thank you so much again!!!!  :)

Off we go,

XOXOXOXO

I checked out the USAA website for you, it looks like you can open a checking account online from what I saw. Here is the link.

My daughter has her checking/savings at USAA. Not only do they not get charged ATM fees, but they get paid a day ahead(14th & last day of the month) She just got her car loan through them and they were very eay to work with.
