National Association of Military Moms and Spouses

My son, Chase, left yesterday for Lackland.  He called to let us know he arrived safely.  Then we got the address phone call last night.  I was expecting it in a couple of days.  His voice sounded so strong that it really encouraged me...However, this is only the first night.  I guess I will see how he sounds when he calls back.

After the address call when should I expect to get another phone call?

By the way, thank you for this website.  It is a place I can go and everyone understands what I am feeling and what Chase must be feeling.

My son leaves in two weeks for Lackland.  The day he leaves is weighing heavy on our  hearts and minds.  Many emotional ups and downs as we prepare, expecially as my wife prepares to say goodby to her 18 year old.  He seems confident and ready to go, except for 'wrapping-up' his life here with us.

If anyone has any words of advice and wisdom on preparing for the 'day', I'll listen.     Thanks

HELP, my son left on Tuesday of this week, 9/11, still haven't heard anything from him.  Should I worry more than usual?

they can usually call with in the first 72 hours, they start working on them as soon as they get off the bus.  They usually mail a postcard also so that u have their address.  We were told to let the first call go to voice mail so the address can be replayed incase u dont get it right as he is saying it because he is only give just a few minutes to call.  If u got to AF wingmoms and join that they have a lot of links and LOTS of very helpful information and groups to help with everything from first call to granduation, photos, maps etc!!! http://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/285056591599445/

They can call any time any day from any phone, they usually get 1 call each week for 15 minutes but it depends on their TI and what point they are in training.  This sight is good but if u look up AF Wingmoms on facebook they have lots of links, photos, chat groups that you can learn almost anything on.  Or if u go to facebook on usaf basic military training it really helps http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/USAF-Basic-Military-Training/15729...
