Hi WingSisters...Prayers are welcome here.  My son has not 1, not 2, byt 3 herneas and will be having surgery on June 28.  I can't stand the thought of him going through this on the other side of the world.  He even made a sarcastic remark to me and he dared me to get on a plane and come and shoop on him. LOL  Love his sense of humor but trust me...I'm thinking about it!

Oh Madeline, Im so happy to hear that Matthew is back in the USA!  That was a long 6-months!

As for the young couple, an AF son and Army daughter-in-law, they are OK but the car is not as the engine was blown.  This young, recently married couple has had a string of bad luck lately.  His wife was in car accident 2-weeks ago, her car is totaled, he was at work early yesterday and there was bomb threat, and now they broke down, were temporarily stranded and are now without a vehicle.  Another military mom offered $20 for the car repair and has challenged other military moms the same.  Honestly any amount is appreciated.  If you can help out, please contact me or Kim Herrick, she is on FB, and we’ll figure out how to get donations.

This young man is in the National Honor Guard, he recently had the honor of guarding the tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and he has also attended funerals for those veterans that have passed on.  We all know how little our military personal are paid, again if you can help out, please let me or Kim Herrick know! Thank you all so much!

Marti, all I can say is, "Holy S**t!"  I'm exhausted just reading what you wrote!!  Your plate, my dear, is more than full!  Sure hope you find a place soon.  And grad school...good for you!

Lynette, how wonderful that your daughter and son-in-law will be visiting.  And for 2 weeks!  Hope they don't run into any problems driving.

Kathy, what's the latest on that family that broke down in VA?  Were they able to get some help?

Good news!  Matthew is here in the U.S. and back at his base.  Thinks he will be home in a week or so.  My God, I can't wait!  It's been an LONG deployment and I can't wait to hug him so tight he can't breathe!!!  Maybe now I can get a decent night's sleep and concentrate on the huge party we are throwing him.

Lastly, I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for all of your support and kind words during his deployment.  I can honestly say that I would have never made it had it not been for each and every one of you that got me through this.  All of your positive thoughts and prayers helped me keep my sanity and brought my son back home safe and sound.  I can honestly say that starting this group is one of the single best things I have ever done.

And Kathy, I'm with you...WOW to being up to 64 members!  Unbelievable!!!

Hi moms, it has been FOREVER since I have commented, sorry, got a little tough for me reading about how much everyone missed their kids, reading these boards got to me! BUT I hope all of your kids are well and that you all are well.

I have a request to put out for another mom.  I have another AF mom that has her AF son and Army daughter-in-law that are broke down near Frederickson VA?? They are in a motel tonight and getting their car worked on this weekend. However she would like to have them get a a good meal and maybe a place to stay tomorrow night! If you can help or post on your FB walls, please let me or Kim Herrick know!  Thank you!

Marti so glad to hear Diana is home! Hopefully she will be able to recover faster now that she is home.

My daughter and son-in-law are leaving in the morning to come home for a couple of weeks. I'm really looking forward to spending some time with them. They live in NC and are driving to Little Rock tomorrow to stay at Grant's place then will drive on home Saturday so they will be here for Father's Day. His family also lives in the area so they are taking both families out to dinner.

Hopefully they don't have too many problems getting here from Kansas City. Interstate 29 is closed about 40 miles from home due to flooding but so far the rest of the levees are holding so they can cross the Missouri south of the closed interstate and come up the Nebraska side of the river. They are predicting thunder storms tonight though and no one knows how that will effect the flooding. We're lucky most of our town is high enough above the River that the flooding is just the park and softball fields.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hello all

I hope this finds you well.  Diana is home finally after 10 awful days in the hospital, she is very weak and tired but home!  and 20 minutes after she got home the landlord wanted them to leave so he could show their house!!  Needless to say, it has been rather trying for them, and me being here 2500 miles away.  In the home front, I am still looking for a place to live.  This has been alot more difficult than I thought, considering that I want to stay in a certain area for my youngest's last year of high school.  I have not found anywhere yet, but I am meeting with some property management people tomorrow (keep your fingers crossed!)

I begin teaching summer school Monday, and in cleaning out the house, I am, not the first bit prepared!  It is not my high schoolers that I am teaching but 1st and 2nd graders...quite a leap from what Im used to.  So you know what my weekend will look like!

Grad school is the pits!  so much reading, so little time!  I feel like all of my time is constantly posting to other's posts online or reading a very lengthy article by dr's so-and-so in very technical jargon which is enough to drive you to drink!  I just keep telling myself, it will pass......

Kyle and Diana will be home in a month, I feel totally unprepared to have them here, hopefully I will be moved by then so I am not in a state of chaos when they come home!  and then we can just focus on the renewal of vows and family time.

Well Madeline, I am so happy your son is coming home!  Happy for you!!

Julie happy that Nichole is better!

Tiffany, so glad you are doing well and you have been as busy as we all have at the end of the school year!

To all of our new members, welcome, welcome, welcome!  so glad you are her with us all.  We are an awesome group of ladies!!

Take care everyone, and talk to you soon,

Peace,

Marti

Happy Tuesday, fellow AF Moms!  Hope all is well with everyone.  Matthew will be home soon!  Keep you posted as soon as I know dates!  Have a good week, everyone!

Marti please send Diana our best wishes and love. I am so sorry that her ordeal has been so long and difficult. Poor thing. I can imagine how frustrated you are that you are not close by.

Julie I'm glad to hear Nichole is mending, I am fair skinned so I know how painful those burns can be. She needs to drink more water than normal while her skin is healing, and take vitamin E supplements. Vit E helps heal skin from the inside out.

Sorry I have not been in touch ladies, these past few months have been super busy, but now easier with summer here and no schedules. Now I just have to keep the little guys occupied all summer so they dont get bored. It's going to be a long summer!! We have passes to a waterpark, a safari, the science museum. So doing those plus playdates and movies.....and school summer workbooks too.....it's exhausting! LOL

Hope all of you are off to a great summer, stay safe!! Love you all!!

Marti, I will continue to keep Diana in my prayers.  How awful for her...one thing after another!  I know how you feel being so far away, not being there to help.  But they understand.  She'll be on the road to recovery real soon!

Julie, so happy to hear that Nichole is feeling better.  Thanks for the advice on the sunscreen.  I had no idea it could expire!

Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Have a good week, too!  Check back in tomorrow!!!  {{{Hugs}}} to all!!!
