Please, Please, Please remember to look again for motorcyclist. There was a bad accident this afternoon a block from the house. The first response fatality unit is there. It looks like a pick-up turned into the motorcycle. Very sad evening.

SR I too have a daughter in the Air Force. She is now through Tech School and in the operational Air Force and loving it. Here is my experience with sending stuff. My daughter's flight came down with a bad case of lice and had to throw out every single hair item they had. When they went to the shopette there was not enough hair supplies for them and they had to share with each other and use the same brushes ect.. One of the other Moms and me got together through facebook  and each sent the girls a big care package full of hair supplies for the whole flight. The MTI was great about it because it was stuff they really needed. They even sent us a thank you card and each girl wrote a thank you message inside! It made me cry! I think if it is stuff they really need the MTI's are fine with it. I wrote a note to her MTI to tell him why I sent it and he was so excited that someone wrote him a letter for a change! LOL

SR,Welcome to the group. It's been 4 years since my son was in BMT and I know somethings have changed, (like absolutly no cell  phones allowed when he was there all calls were from a pay phone) but his calls came on different days but always late afternoon to evening. The calls totally depended on how good the flight was performing.

I think I sent him an ATM card but I just sent it regular mail in with a card and hoped for the best. I have no idea about the care package, but she might be able to get hair gel and poneytial holders at the quick shop, I know my son said they got to go there once in awhile.

Sherri's right it's hard but the time will go faster than you think. Hope you're able to make it to her graduation, it is well worth the trip.

@ SR .. I can't answer all of your questions about sending things to your daughter.  I only sent letters.

I  can tell you I didn't get a phone call every weekend.  Phone calls are a privilege and if someone messes up then no one gets a phone call.  It is really hard, but hang in there - the time will go faster than you think.

Shannon...just keep thinking positively.  Everything will be fine.  With all the prayers heading his way from all of us, how can it be anything else? lol.  Try to keep busy...I know, easier said than done.  Keep us posted on his progress.  Love to you and Richie!

Good Morning WingSisters!  Richie will be heading to surgery today for 3 hernias. I know it is a simple and routine operation but it is still so hard to be an ocean away from my boy as he goes through this. I can't wait to hear from him before he heads to the hospital. Please keep him in your prayers.  I am having a hard time concentrating today.  :(
