Ladies, I am proud to share with you a newly released AF video featuring Combat Controllers. My son Tyler is at the following times in the video:
at 59 seconds he is standing all by himself with his arms crossed, then you see the back of his head close up at the pool at 3:43, then he is running right in front of the camera through the woods at 3:55.

Wow, I have busy with a lot of other things and haven't check in lately. This group has grown!!! Welcome to all the new members. I am Lori from Michigan and my son is A1C Erik at Ramstein in Germany. I have two daughters, Aimee a Senior at Ferris State and Ariana a Senior at St. Clair High. Both daughters are looking to also join the AF. Ariana has already talked to the recruiter and Aimee is getting ready to. I will definitely need all of your support then!!! I look forward to getting to know all of you. Check back in later, I'm on my lunch break :)

Heard from my daughter, they are back home. Lots of trees and power lines down but the house is ok. Thanks for all the prayers. I hope everyone on up the coast is faring well.

We are in DC and the rain has been heavy and the wind is starting to pick up some now. But I think this will probably be the worst that it gets for us thank goodness. Prayers for your daughter and family Lynette! Let us know how she makes out!

Thanks, Tiffany we're from Nebraska so we know how to handle tornados and blizzards but hurricanes are another story. The base is in Jacksonville, NC parts of the base are on the coast but housing is back a few miles.

The kids have gone to the emergency prepardness meetings and have told me they are doing most of your suggestions. They have a dog so they're worried that if things do turn bad they will have a hard time going someplace with the dog. Last night the got motel reservations made inland and will go there once Brian is told he can leave the base. I'm feeling better knowing they have a plan in place.

  • I don't blame you for worrying Lynette. We have been through several hurricanes here in South FL, and they are not fun. How close are they to the coast? If it were me, I would advise them to be prepared with flashlights and candles and a propane tank for grill cooking if they plan to stay and ride it out. They will likely be without power for several days. They should also fill their bathtubs with water in the final hours before it hits because if the water supply fails, they will have no running water or be able to flush toilets. Ice in coolers is also helpful without power, so if they can stash extra ice in the freezer that will help. Once the power goes out, their food should be ok for up to 10 hours or so if they don't open the fridge.
  • If you have any questions, feel free to ask me Lynette I am happy to help.  We are praying for those in Irene's path. Keep us posted on how things progress. Big hugs XOXO
