She just finished basic training and arrived in Germany this morning. This is her first duty station. She seems extremely happy and excited. Seeing your son once a year must be rough! Especially not seeing the grandbabies for so long. Hopefully you get lots of pictures! I have a son in the Navy that has been stationed in Japan for 2 years. I have seen him once since he has been there. He seems to be having the time of his life though!:)
Comment by Marti Knoll on August 9, 2012 at 11:44pm Thanks Tonya, looks like you are going through a separation as well with your daughter. My son is in Idaho, which for me (who is in Michigan) it might as well be overseas! No one flies into Idaho, but a select few airlines, so plane tickets are usually horribly expensive. We usually only get to see each other once a year :( and it is hard with grandbabies! How long has your daughter been in the AF?
Congratulations to your son! Best wishes to your family!
Comment by Marti Knoll on August 9, 2012 at 10:15pm OMGoodness! I have not been here for a very long time, and wow have we grown! I joined when I think there were 31 members, and holy cats, we are huge! My son Kyle has been in the AF since 2005, and he finally made SSGT. For those of you who know me and my daughter in law Diana, they have been through so much with the kids health and her health, Kyle has struggled to keep everything together. But they have oersevered and he has made Staff. He is currently TDY for three weeks, and may be deploying in March or April...of course he wont tell me until he is home...which if we are lucky, he will come home for the first holiday since he left in 2005 this Christmas! Good to be back! Love you all Wing Moms!

He is so happy to be away for a while. I do miss his phone calls and texts though.
So proud of all our military. God bless you.
