I just found this site and this group and I don't know what to expect from joining but I did it anyway.  I was medically discharged after almost 15 years and it was a big bruise to everything that has to do with me.  I do not feel like I've adjusted but I am dealing and trying to cope.

Sorry Lori for taking so long to get back to you. I can't believe that it has gone by so fast. I have been done for a little over 3 weeks now and it has been non stop. As I stated I chose to get out for my children, more so my little guy then anything else, because of his health. But you know what for me as well. I wasn't happy in my job and cross training into something I actually wanted to do was going nowhere. So after many, man conversations with my husband, I did it. I was nervous as heck, but also excited.
My plan right now is to be a stay at home mom and home school my children, while finishing my bachelors and then masters degree. Then after my children go to school re-enter the work force. As this is many years away my only firm plan right now is being there for my babies and finishing school!
Thank you so much for the encouragement. I does make it a little easier to know that women have been there done that.

Awwww Diana....I remember what my last day was like.  I was excited to get out but surely did miss it that first day.  Actually that first year.  Had to get used to people asking me "who's your sponsor".  Transitioning can be a tough one if you're not ready for it! How are you preparing yourself?

Today was my last duty day. I served in the Air Force for the last 6 years. I decided to get out because of my babies, my little one has a chronic illness and with both us on Active Duty it was next to impossible to get support. So here I am day one. I'm excited and nervous but ready for the challenge. We shall see.

I served 10 years in the Army got out in 98......i really enjoyed being in the military, but having a husband both of us in the ARMY at same time was hard on the family. I decided to get out of the ArMy before both of us got deployed and became a stay at home mom. The Army has change alot since 98 i really miss it at times.

I've been out for about 10 years...and I'd never go back. It's working for my husband..he's good at it...me not so much. We have 2 boys now and we've got 5 yrs left till retirement...just holdin' on. :)

I'm prior army I got out because the dual deployments with two kids was just killing us and our kids were paying the price its been a few years and I still haven't adjusted lol.

My husband and I were both Navy until the Army offered better opportunities for my husband. Army/Navy families are almost impossible to keep together so we chose for me to get out. It has been strange being the one home instead of deployed. We've switched roles completely in our home.

I totally agree, I've been out of AF active duty for 4 years now and still haven't completely adjusted.

I am an Air Force Vet and I agree with you Anita, it is a hard adjustment to our pride. I still think military in alot of situations.
