Proud Army Reserve Wives

This is a group for proud army reserve wives. Since we do not live on an army post it is harder to find others that can relate to our situation. Can't wait to find others to talk with!

My husband is on the second half of his deployment, and I just moved into his house in Fayetteville, I don't know anyone here and am living alone with my dog. If anyone has been in this situation any advice would be great!

I don't have many friends outsid eof my boyfriend so I'm worried that I'll be very lonely when he is gone. He's in the delayed entry prgram so I already suffer every weekend when he goes to drills.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the site and I found this group. I hope it will be helpful to talk to other military wives in my situation. My friends and family don't quite understand the difference between Active and Reserves and my in-laws have another son (my husbands twin brother) that is active duty and they assume him and his fiance have it harder. It's a little crazy right now because we are still living with his parents but hopefully that will soon change...

Eve-

Any time you need to vent or something, feel free to message me.  My husband has been in for a little over a year and a half and I have had a hard time at times as well.  My advice is to just take it one day at a time.  Keep busy (but I'm sure that's not a problem with being in college).  And connect with people that are in the same circumstance.  I hope this helps.  Feel free to message me anytime if you ever need to talk or something.

Hi ladies! My name is Christina, I'm a newlywed National Guard wife. I've been with hubby for 5 years, and tomorrow will officially be a month that we've been married! Just wanted to say hi and say that I'm looking forward to talking with everyone =)

My fiance and his family lives near UConn, I live near the Mass border (I'll tell you specific towns if you message me). I love the area and since his guard commitment is about 5 years after he gets back next sept, we'll be around for a while and are going to get married here, hopefully in 2012! I've been doing ok with the "ours" thing, I'm just not as good with the "us" being a "me" for a year! Guess I have to get used to it...DF went to flight school in AL and loved it - might be a transplant myself in the future!

Allison, I'm very glad I found this page, I'm doing ok today, but I know there will be tough days to come! You're right, no one really understands and I can't expect them to want to hear about it all the time.

Anyways, if anyone has ideas on how to be supportive of him when he's stressing down on Post (aka the RIGHT things to say!) I'd appreciate it, I don't want to accidentally say something that will worry him even more.

Hey Nancy! Where in CT? I went to UConn for my undergrad. Loved it there! I know what you mean about being independent. I didn't meet my husband until I was 30, after I had been living on my own in New York City for several years. I still have trouble with "mine vs. ours" ... lol!

Growing up in the northeast, I still feel a little out of place down south in SC. Add that to not knowing anything about military life until I met my hubby ... well, you can guess :-)

We're in Utah. Trust me, there have been many times when I have needed to vent and didn't have anyone to talk to. I would talk to my friends and they were helpful but it just wasn't the same because they didn't really understand what it was like. I really wish I had found this page at the beginning because it would've made those times a lot better!

Thanks Allison, it's nice to meet you as well! Where are you located? I'm in CT but he's with an MA guard company. I noticed your post in another chat - I'm super independent as well, and I didn't think I'd need anyone or anything to get through this - but boy was I wrong! Even before he left, I felt the need to find others like me, which is so unlike me! I'm here to vent to as well :-)

Hi Nancy! It's nice to meet you! I am in the same boat as you. My husband is coming back from basic this week and hasn't been to drill with his new unit yet so I know no one around where I live. I never thought I would be an army wife either. I new no one in the military prior to this and I am definitely still learning about the military. If you ever need to talk or vent, please feel free to contact me.
