I'm a jump in with both feet kind of person. I try to find a FFSC class that I want to take that is happening in the first weeks we are at a new D/S. I take it from there. If we are Sea Duty I go to the first FRG meeting I can. I also always take the first session of Compass I can, if there is a team at the D/S. I have met the most wonderful people at Compass. Now with kids, I try to strike up a conversation at the playground - something as simple as "is the Commissary here good, or is there a better option?"
Thanks for the suggestions!
I normally make a few friends from the command through my husband. I am not a real outgoing person. Other than that, I make friends at work. I never had too many friends in base housing because of all the drama. I have been here 3 months and just happen to have one person here from a past duty station. Find out when the next FRG meeting is or better yet, take a Compass class. You will always meet new people there and have a great time.
I have the same problem. I'm from North Carolina and just moved across the country to California earlier this year. I am currently in NC for the holidays but I am going back to CA in a couple months. I do not know anyone there and it is really hard especially since my husband just got deployed. So ur not alone! Where are y'all stationed?
