Help I am going on my first plane ride with a one year old and I have no clue on how to handle her on a flight. Does anyone have some tips for me? I am willing to listen to anyone with some good advice.

bring lots of toys. buy her, her own seat. ( i know it costs more). bring the stroller to the gate, they will usually check it from there. Have lots to drink or suck on.
Thanks a bunch Kristine. I will make note. I figured I would buy her milk at the Air port too. I don't want to risk the liquid thing at the Security check
Hi Shannon,

If you have an Ipod or MP3 that has video capabilities, you can download something that she likes to watch. Also bring a favorite blanket or toy with you. Bring an empty sippy cup and fill it after you get through security. Give it to her when the plane is about to take off. The sucking may help with the change in pressure. I agree with Kristine bring lots of toys. Go to the dollar store and get some new ones that may peak her interest more than ones she is used to.
Thanks a lot Michelle.......I do have an Ipod but it is the Shuffle, but it has songs she likes on it.
Thank you very much Christopher. I am writing all these good ideas down lol. Wow I am sorry about your stroller. I hope mine is going to be okay......I kinda like my stroller lol. My husband is named Christopher.......I found it funny and it actually made me smile.
Thank for the great advice! I guess you never can get enough good advice.
Many years ago I flew from the U.S. to Europe with a 3 yr old and a 6 week old infant. Then, the flight attendants were very helpful. Today, I guess not so much. However, you know your child. She will cry because she's hungry, or wet, or bored, or her ears may hurt, maybe even teething a little. She can't speak, so you'll have to be especially attuned to her problems and deal with them for her. You know what she likes and what her favorite things are. This is the time for them. When making flight plans, perhaps a bulkhead seat would be preferable so that you'll be close to the bathrooms, and more leg room in front of you. You'll be boarded early before the others, and maybe even you'll be able to deplane in front the the rush instead of behind it.

Subsequently, we flew across the ocean many times during the ensuing seven years. Today, that six-week old baby is a Lt. Cdr in the Navy, and currently in Afghanistan.
Mini magna doodles are the best. Nothing to drop on the floor. Lots of snacks in small packages. Give yourself lots of extra time to get to the airport. If you have a USO and plan to use it (which is great), check if it is outside security or not. If you have a transfer, talk to the flight attendants about getting a map of the airport so you know where to go. Agree on the sippy cup/ milk thing. That and chewing snacks will help. Give her lots of time out of the stroller/seat at the airport since she will be restricted during flight.

Put her in a window seat - containment is good :) Don't let her sleep before the flight, with any luck, you can schedule the flight over her nap time and she'll sleep the whole time.

I flew several times with my daughter before she turned 2 and we had to buy her own seat. I never bought her own seat, but then she liked to snuggle. You will not be allowed to "attach" her to you - she must be sitting on top of your seatbelt (I have no idea why).
The crayola coloring books that only work with their own markers were a wonderful addition when i brought my daughter back to the United states for the first time at a year old. I bought her favorite biter biscuits for her to eat so that the swallowing would pop her ears as the plane flew. I also downloaded her favorite videos on my lap top and set her up with a set of headphones she was good to go the entire 9 hour flight armed with those and her favorite blankie.
