National Association of Military Moms and Spouses

Your Online Connection for A BLISSful Military Lifestyle!

New Member Guide

Hi and welcome to the National Association for Military Moms and Spouses! We are delighted you have joined us and there's LOTS for you to do here. But with all the activity, information, connecting and sharing going on, there's one key ingredient that makes it all work: YOU.

This guide will help you get started on this network and help you make the most of your free membership with us. Here's what you can do RIGHT NOW:

1. Sign up for our free eNewsletter and event details. This is the heartbeat of the Association and part of how we stay connected. After you've joined us using the "Sign Up" feature of the website, you still need to sign up for our NAMMAS e-Connects newsletter and with it comes a FREE MP3 download of "Finding Your BLISS: How To Create The Life You Want With The Military Life You Get." It's a cool interview, where Debbye Cannon, The Business Mom Mentor interviews me and we discuss why it's crucial for you to find, maintain and share your BLISS. What's BLISS? Get the interview and be inspired!

2. Get a profile picture up. Now, that beautiful default photo of those two women slapping hands that's loaded next to your name is nice, but we'd all rather see YOU! Load a quick picture of yourself so everyone will know who they're connecting with.

3. Upload photos of your family and/or friends. What's even cooler than a picture of yourself is pictures of people who like you! :O) Share with us your circle of friends and family. You never know who you might find on this network and reconnections are made frequently.

4. Complete your "My Page" page. This will personalize the whole experience for you. Nothing better than your own personal stamp on your corner of the Association "universe".

5. Own a business? We absolutely want to know about it! But you must put it in the MOB section (Mom Owned Business). This will eventually become our Business Directory, where when you need a virtual assistant, a house cleaner, or some Mary Kay, the Association will be the first place you look. This network was created BY us FOR us. We can help support each other with resources that are in-house!

6. Invite your friends! Don't you know it's not good that (wo)man should be alone? The success of this online Association depends solely on YOU. That means the next time you hear one of your mom or spouse friends complaining that they don't know how to get organized for PCS, how to keep a great schedule for you and the kids when your man's deployed, or that it's so hard to make friends, that's the perfect opportunity for you to invite them your Association. Use this link to invite your girlfriends and help spread the word about the great resources we have available.
7. Get busy connecting! Yes that's what we do here. No fun if you never come back. And we WILL make sure you come back. Explore all that this site and Association has to offer you. Things like FREE TelEvents, Q&A in the Forums, chat with other members who are online with you and even create your own Group within the association. You can designate it by base, service, unit, moms at your base, spouses who used to be active duty, whatever you want! The point is get involved, share your story, and learn from each other.

As with any organization, there's got to be some rules. And wouldn't a military group be un-military without some? That's why before you go off saving the world one woman at a time, you should take a look at the "House Rules" page. You can find them here. Not a long list of stuff, but we want to make sure you maximize your experience here and don't abuse it. Don't worry, it's easy stuff...any mom or wife would be proud.

That's it! We look forward to getting to know you and being the premier resource for supporting you with help information for your life.
