"I know how tough it will be but it is something you can do! What is his MOS? I know that most schools only have them in for 3 months. My husband went to 2 schools and was gone for a period of 3 months at a time, sometimes longer because his class…"

Howdy Tab :) Long time, no chat! I hope all is going well for you @ Camp Pendleton. My hubby & I are hoping that he gets stationed there. He's at MCT in NC right now &  the separation (even though it is only a month) is hitting my pretty hard. He graduates Jan 25th & I'm counting down the days!

Really!? I know there are a number of different jobs under the "Communications" MOS, but someone had told me that it was 12 months - a whole year! - at 29 Palms ... ugh, I can't even imagine what that would be like for either of us. Here's hoping he only spends 3 months! (even 5 would be tolerable since I'm busy with college until next Autumn).

I'm hoping we get stationed at Camp Lejune in North Carolina (because it is right in between Connecticut & Florida, where our respective families live) or Camp Pendelton near San Diego, CA (we used to live in San Francisco & would love to be able to take train rides up; also, my best friend goes to college in San Diego).

His MOS is Communications - I heard that means he goes to 29 Palms, but numerous time frames have been quoted to me. He wanted to go straight into Recon, but they closed that option a month before he was about to select his MOS. In the end, he wants to get into Recon, and then become a trainer, then an officer. He wants to stay in for the full 20 years to get the retirement benefits; by then, he will be 46 (and I will be too) & we'll still have a lot of great times to be had together.

Wow, only 5 months in the last 2 years - that sounds awful & yet, I have a feeling that will be my future soon. After just a short few weeks, my husband will be off to SOI @ Camp Lejune & then anywhere from 3-12 months at 29 Palms (I think). During all that time, I will be finishing my college degree, so that will help, but nothing replaces him being here.

I do stay busy - I'm a freelance writing, promoting my first TWO books that come out this year & I'm a full-time (4-class) college student. I'm also living with my Mum & my stepdad, so it helps to not be alone all the time.

Thank you, Tab :) This is the end of his 3rd week of training (4th week of him being there). So far, I've gotten 2 letters, both of which arrived this week. I've heard a lot about injuries, but my husband's body is disturbingly resilient, haha,
