Military kids and reintegration

I have a 10 month old girl, a 3 year old boy and an 8 year old boy. My husband has been underway and thne just got back from a 4 month dployment(humanitarian). Well, anyway, I just wanted to know if ANYONE has had issues with older kids 6-10 who have had behavioural issues when their Mommy or Daddy has come back. The school feels as if, my son should be happy. I feel the same way, but it is hard. Hard going from Mommy telling him what to do, to be able to "play" Mommy against Daddy. When my…

Daddy Dolls

https://www.daddydolls.com/

I hope I am adding for all to see.  I found this site last night and posted in the Proud AF Mom spot and one of the mom's suggested that I post for all to see.  These dolls are proudly made in the USA and they have a picture page that will just break your heart! Those little kids holding onto "daddy" or "mommy" are priceless!

Service Flags

Did you know about service flags?  I did but I never knew of their real significance until recently.  According to the service flag website:

Department of Defense Regulations state that family members authorized to display the flag include:…

Blue Star Mothers of America

Moms of servicemembers,

This is a group that was started by military moms in Flint, Michigan in 1942!  They promote patriotism, hanging of the blue star or gold star service flags, and all things supporting our country and servicemembers in every branch of the military.  They support servicemembers at home and abroad, by volunteering.  I have joined this group of wonderful moms in my state.  There are chapters in most states, and if there is not one in yours, you can request a…

24 Best Potty Training Tips for Boys (from Moms who know!)

Did you know that in a study done by AOL in February of 2008, they discovered potty training is the MOST searched parenting topic on the internet? I didn’t know this (well, not until I read about it), but I’m not surprised.  Chances are, I was one of those parents! And from the response on our NAMMAS Military Stay-at-Home Moms Facebook Fan Page,

I’m not alone! When asked “What are your best potty…

Overseas Calling That Won't Break Your Piggy Bank!!!

I have wondered about this as well.  When my son was in the desert, he called me, but he also called my daughter in law everyday.  How, and not go bankrupt?  Vonage!  I have it on good authority( two military wives who still use the service) that you can get plans as low as 9.99 to 24.99!  This saved my son and his wife thousands and thousands of dollars while he was deployed!  Now that my son is going to England in August, I am definately going to invest the 10 bucks a month in a phone that…

Navy Moms

I am a mom of an Airman and I have a friend that is a mom of an Airman and a Sailor. I referred her to this group because she is looking for a mom support group for Navy Moms. We are already part of a great Air Force support group and I let her know we have a group here too. She is having a hard time finding Navy Mom support groups anywhere and I don't see one on here. Are there any Navy Moms here that want to connect with other Navy Moms?… Continue

My NAMMAS Friends,

I have been in contact with this charity for several years.  They help servicemembers and their families through difficult times with many different things from help getting furnature, vehicles, appliances, monetary assistance etc.  There is a chapter in almost every state that any servicemember can contact.  Just thought I would give you the heads up.  This is on the "best" charities list and has several sponsors including Lockheed and Dollar Tree, Inc. Please take…

The Wingman Project

Lori Thueme turned me on to this page through facebook, Thanks Lori!  This is an awesome group and something we need to help our soldiers with.  No soldier should ever be without his or her wingman.  I hope all of you go to this site.

The goal of the Wingman Project is to reduce suicides among military members and their families, particularly ANG, through human outreach, hard-hitting media, and training.…

Visiting you Soldier Abroad

Does anyone know of any discounts for overseas travel to visit your soldier?  My son has accepted his orders to Lakenheath England effective August 2011.   As a mom, and grandma, I will miss my family as they will be stationed there for four years.  However, I have also priced travel costs....as of now, a plane ticket from Michigan is approximately $1500 (there are two of us, so a total of $3000) , and to stay in a hotel is another $1500-$2000.  that does not include food, attractions, etc. …

Anyone that lives in hawaii ?

Added by Kayla Lynn Lipsett on January 8, 2011 at 7:03am — 1 Comment

Alone on this Island.

Well I'm new at this really. I hate not having other young wives like myself to talk to.  It has been hard to meet other people here in hawaii. Well I guess I can say it's cause I'm a work at home wife.  It does get hard not having a another girl to talk to when it gets tough.  I have also noticed that there is alot of girls that cheat on their husbands while their on deployments. I'm not like that and I don't do things like that so I have just stayed to myself. It's just not fun being…
