I think you are doing a wonderful job!!!!

Lori,

My husband retired in 1992 after 21 years in the US Navy. I was a young girl, just 18 and a week out of high school when we got married. We had know each other for 4 years and he had been in the service for 3.I moved to his duty station of San Diego, away from everyone and every thing I knew.Thank God I had his aunt to help me. His uncle was also in the Navy and was also stationed in San Diego. I really don't know what I would have done without her. I heard about this…

Stay Eligible: Keep DEERS Up to Date

The Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) is the worldwide database for all service members, their family members and others who are eligible for military benefits—including TRICARE. TRICARE uses the information stored in your DEERS record to determine benefit and program eligibility and your TRICARE region. PCS Season

This week I said goodbye to the third neighbor in less than a month. And there are a few more to follow in the coming weeks. PCS season is so interesting to me because it helps me to realize just who has become important to me. I was so sad to see some of my neighbors go. Those are the ones I hope will cross my path again in the future.

And I have really racked up on some pretty nice stuff from those that are packing out. I have acquired quite a few plants, some spices,…

Our Life.

My name is Amanda, an Air Force wife of only about 7 months. I married my wonderful airman Travis on December 26, 2009 when he came back home for his 2 week leave for Christmas. We are now currently living in Seaside, CA while he finishes his tech school here at the DLI. We don't have any kids as of right now but we are planning to start our family next March or so. We're really excited about that. :):) Also I will be starting online college classes for photography this fall,…

Building A Business? Read the Hollywood Script

You'd have to be living on another planet to not know the third installment to the Vampire vs Werewolf saga is upon us. Or that Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha are back to have more sex and set more fashion standards in the city. Why do we know so much about these movies and for how long have we known about them? You better believe it wasn't by accident, and even more than that, if you are a start-up entrepreneur or an experienced business veteran, you should put down the popcorn and… Continue

When Pets PCS

by Susanna Haynie, "The PCS Coach"

It Has Been A Wonderful Week

Having my husband home on leave for the past week has been a treat! I got to sleep late, have some time away from the kids, and try to catch up on my work. He on the other hand, cleaned out the refrigerator, all of the kitchen cabinets, under the sink, and the shelves in the laundry room. I am sad to see the week come to an end so quickly.
A girl could get used to this!

The Struggle:Dual Military

This is my perspective of being dual-military:

Every dual military couple has a story to tell. I am a hundred percent sure that mine is not the worse, but here goes.

My husband and I were both your typical Airman straight of basic training. We met and married within 3 months of meeting, everyone said we were doomed from the beginning. Now 4 years and two children later we are stronger than ever. This does by no means…

The heat is almost unbearable outsite. The temp is not that high but the humidity must be 100%.

I sit at my dining room table looking out of my patio doors and can see so many neighbors prepare to PCS. Moving trucks have taken over the streets. I don't see how they can work in this heat.

I am just so thankful my time to PCS has not yet arrived. I will miss many of the great neighbors but this just means more great mil spouses will be moving in.

Secrets of A Great PCS? Inventory!

by Susanna Haynie, "The PCS Coach"

Why do you have to go through the trouble of inventorying your home, at least inventory your valuable items such as electronics, collectibles, jewelery or antiques?

In case of a damage or loss you need to be able to prove that you owned the item and you want to show what it is worth. A few years ago the military added an important benefit for our PCSing military families:

Time Is Winding Down

We have a year left here in Japan and I am already started to feel the pressure. Because I am a planner and a self proclaimed professional organizer I feel the need to know where we are going next. But instead we are only being told where we are not going. One of those places that we are not going is Japan and that is unfortunate.…

Itching to Get Started

I suppose this is something that I learned or picked up as a child. My Dad was in the military and although we only moved a handful of times I loved the excitement of knowing we were moving to a new place. That move could have been half a year away but just knowing would get me all antsy and ready to get there.
