National Association of Military Moms and Spouses

Hello...my name is Stephanie and I am actually the Mother of a Son in the US Navy. One of his best friends lives here in our town (my Son is stationed in another state). I am what I consider a 2nd Mom or Aunt to B so for my posts I will identify him as my nephew. B has enlisted in the Air Force!!! He has a leave date for basic on April 23rd and its exciting and scary and prideful, just like it was when my Son went through boot camp. My goal is to support B, be here for him to reach out to while his Mother is busy with school and working full time. I know she's proud of him and will get involved in this process as much as time allows her to. So, what I am hoping is that I can find a group here where other family members have Son's or Daughter's at basic the same time as B and to go through the 8 weeks together. I did the same on Navy4moms 2 years ago and it was so helpful. We knew each other before graduation and made it fun to hang out when we reached Chicago (in my Son's case). I will be in SA for B's graduation and be as big a cheerleader for him as I was for my own. Feel free to reach out and I hope it's okay that I ask questions as this is a branch that I am just learning about. I was a Navy wife for 20 years so it does help!! Thanks in advance for your friendship and support.

Congrats! That is awesome that you are being supportive of your son's friend. This is a great example of how family is not only blood related!

It's great that you are being a support person for your son's friend as he enters USAF Basic Training.

You should check out the Air Force Wing Moms page on Facebook! I will watch for you there too!

Hello my name is Tanya, my oldest son AJ is leaving for Air Force basic training on Feb 12,2013. Is there any other moms who will have there child leaving for that basic? Would love to chat I'm feeling happy and proud, but at the same time very sad. He is the oldest of 4 and still at 18 he's my baby. I want to be sure I'm prepared for graduation can't wait!! Any suggestions for an almost new Military mom??? Thanks
