National Association of Military Moms and Spouses

National Author/Speaker Partners with NAMMAS To Hear Your Deployment Story

It's a sad fact that the divorce rate in America is extremely high with at least half of all marriages failing. The military divorce rate is no better, and the strain that deployments and separations put on a marriage make it especially difficult to keep a happy home.

That's why bestselling author (over 1 million books sold) Margaret Hardisty and Dr. Vance Hardisty are working with the National Association of Military Moms and Spouses, and other organizations to collect stories of real families with successful marriages that made it. They are co-authoring a book and home study course just for military families. They want to know, of the marriages that last, just what was the secret?

Dr. Hardisty is accepting stories of marriages that are making it, even through a deployment. Share your story and you could be published in their next best seller! Here are the guidelines for submissions:

In your own words, please tell us what happened. Don’t be concerned about writing everything perfectly, just start at the beginning. As you tell your story please answer the following:

1. Were you the one deployed or did you stay at home?

2. Tell us about your marriage, it’s strengths and weaknesses and how long you had been married before you received news of the deployment.

3. Tell us what you did in preparation for deployment.

4. How long was the deployment?

5. What did you do to stay in contact?

6. What fear issues did you deal with?

7. What happened after the deployment was over?

8. If you had children, how did you help them handle the deployment?

9. How many deployments have you and your spouse been on?

10. If there were more than one, was there any difference in them?

11.What would you do differently for the next deployment?

12. What was the most difficult thing to deal with when he/she returned?

13. What was the thing that made transition back to “normal” life easier?

14. If you could sit down with a troop and give him/her three things to do pre deployment what would they be?

15. If you could give him/her three things to do while deployed, what would they be?

16. If you could give him/her three things post deployment, what would they be?

Submissions should be sent to vance@vancehardisty.com. All questions about the submission and guidelines should be sent to Dr. Hardisty.
Happy submitting, and we can't wait to read your story in his next book!
