The scripted call
boy was that tough! He called and we got to hear his voice, but other than "I love you" and " be strong", I didn't get to actually talk to him. He started out really strong, but by the end, his voice was wavering. I managed not to cry while he was on the phone. I want to be as strong as he is and must continue to be to get through this. I pray for him every single day. I know he will succeed. I look forward to meeting the man he will become! I am SO PROUD to be his mom!

Lonnie, thanks for the response. I got the scripted call last night at 5:30 my time (West coast) I was very relieved to get it. I got the address and then got a very quick boot camp is not that hard, love you, bye. I'm sure that was scripted too. I expected it to be short, but just to hear her voice was all I needed. I have been reading and reading all about this new AF experience so I am calmer now just hearing everyone's thoughts and stories. Thanks so much. It's always good to know I'm not the only mom who is worried, but yet so PROUD of our airmen!!!!

Charlene, Don't panic. It can take up to 72 hours after arrival for them to call home. This is nothing unusual. This first call came after 48 hours. It is hard to be patient, I know. Then the voice calls usually don't come until week two. Hang in there!

I am a little concerned now. My daughter left yesterday sept 18, 2012. She called me at the airport and said she had arrived safely and was in line at the USO office. Said I would receive a call during the night with her address. I waited all night and that scripted call never came? Does everyone do this? When should I start to panick?
