Hi Lori, I wonder if you would please get this message out to the other AF Moms: My son sent us a schedule of Graduation Ceremonies, etc for Jan. 10-11-12-13, well, I seem to have lost it! I have looked for two days and cannot find it! This paper has all of the graduation info for visitors and I do not know how I could get a copy. This info is for 324 TRS/FLT 07 graduating 1/11/2013. If anyone has a copy please contact me at mluna117@hotmail.com I really would appreciate a copy ! THANK YOU!
Lori Thank you for the welcome this is new to me so I am looking forward to learning more about what take place with my granddaughter. Read up on the schedule that they give you for the 8 weeks so I have an idea of what she doing .
Many, many congratulations on the birth of your son! How awesome for you and your family! Also, thank you for starting this website, I cannot tell you how liberating it is for me. When my son went through boot camp, there was nothing, no support groups, no websites to view him or the goings on...we were totally blind, and knew nothing about what was going on with him so very far from home. My son has been in 6 years now, and has accepted orders to take him to England for 4 years. None of my friends at home understand the hurt, frustration and helplessness you feel about not seeing your child for years...or deployments, or anything military. This group understands everything I feel!!! Now I have met truly some of the most wonderful women in my life, and I am planning on getting together with one of them this weekend from my home state of Michigan! She has also directed me to some support groups in our state and in my area, and I feel like I am not so alone anymore! I have also talked to another mom from a neighboring state about getting together this summer. I find can share all of my experiences with other Military Mommies which has been awesome! Thank you again for creating a forum for all of the women who need to have a support bra! Much love and respect, Marti Knoll
Thank you for the advice, Lori :) My hubby graduated from Marine Corps boot camp on Dec 10th, so this whole lifestyle is still new to me. I'm doing lots of research, but I'm also a freelance writer & author, so keeping myself busy is a good thing for my mind & my career! :) January is a bit of a lull month, as folks gear up for the start of the new year & really get moving again. Getting through 3 months of boot camp wasn't nearly as tough as I thought it would be, so 1 month of training shouldn't be so hard.
Hey Lori -- maybe why people aren't finishing the survey: if you choose "other", and type in your answer, it comes back and says you must select an answer, but there is no box to check (at least on my Mac). Keep up the great work!
Thanks! I came across it a few months ago from some other military spouses and I hope it catches on even more! I'll write up a blog within the week so you can feature it! :)
Hi, Lori! Jar cakes are basically a super easy way to send cake to the troops and still have it be fresh and not all crumbly when it arrives! You just put cake batter in a jar and bake it like a normal cake. Here's a link to the recipe:
Just make sure to send along a tub of frosting or the spray frosting that doesn't need to be refrigerated, and they have birthday cakes ready to eat! (I know you can also do other recipes using jars, such as banana bread and cinnamon rolls I believe). Hope this helps :)

Hi Lori, things are going ok... My husband was deployed a few months ago, and I've had a pretty rough week this past week. Thanksgiving was really hard for me, for a few different reasons, but I guess it's something I need to learn to deal with on my own. I don't know many of the wives from my husbands unit, since he's National Guard, and can't find anyone near where I live, so I'm having a hard time making friends. But, my parents have been great, and I'm staying busy with my full-time job. I'm just trying to find things to do to pass the time when I'm not at work or with my parents. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
