June 12, 2010 Joint Base Lewis McChord: On June 12th, 2010 kids gathered at Cowan Stadium to participate in a "Armed Forces Kids Run" to help make Joint Base Lewis-McChord home of the world's largest military youth run.
The goal was to get 1,000 entrants ages 5 to 16 for the JBLM Armed Forces Kids Run. It didn't look like this goal of a 1,000 kids was reached but it was wonderful to see so many children out there with their families participating. Some children were wearing a sports uniform of another sport in which they were scheduled to participate later that day. What a great site to see! What do you mean "inactive" kids? NONE HERE!
Of the more than 150 installations that have held previous runs, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, and the San Diego Navy facilities have had the highest participation with more than 900 runners each. Distances will include a half mile for ages 5 to 6, a mile for ages 7 to 8 and two miles for ages 9 and older.
